Submitting a film to Switch.tv is easy and free. Here's how the process works.
- Fill in our Submission Form
- Upload your film or animation..
- Or alternatively mail it into us.
We accept these file types:
- DVD Video - VOB (MPEG2)
- Audio Video Interleaved - AVI
- Digital Video - DV
- Motion Picture Experts Group - MPEG (MPEG4 preferred)
- QuickTime Video - MOV, QT
- Windows Media - WMV, ASF
Overall quality parameters should be set at DVD quality or higher.
Typically you get the best results using modern codecs such as MPEG-4/H.264, we recommend the High Profile settings
that produce good quality picture and sound suitable for home theatre or digital broadcast. The exact parameters
vary from codec to codec and if in doubt you should pick a high bitrate for both audio and video and leave the frame
size at 720x576. Generally speaking if you are happy with the end result we will be too.
For example: DVD Video looks best using MPEG-2 codec, frame size 720x576, video bitrate of 8Mbps.
Audio should be provided as a stereo MP3 encoding at 128 kbps or equivalent minimum - basically we require CD quality sound - no audible encoding artifacts please.
In all likelihood, we'll be able to launch it onto Switch TV within 2 weeks.
Note that by signing the Submission Form, you will be attesting that you hold the proper clearances and legal rights to distribute the material used in your short film or animation.
Thanks for considering Switch TV. We're keen to work with you!
